Disgusting Thing one:
The E(ar)N(ose)T(hroat) doctor I saw at the Alfred hospital a few weeks back suggested I get something called a Sinus Rinse to keep my post operative nose "moist". Strangely, I have been avoiding this for obvious reasons. Till today when I ran out of the nasal spray I've been using. So I thought - time to go back to the chemist and get some of this
stuff.
Ewgh. Did I mention ewgh?
Basically, you mix up some salty preparation from a sachet with some "previously boiled warm water" in a little flask which you've previously rinsed with more boiling water. Shake it up till it dissolves. And the fun begins.
Placing the nozzle in ones nostril - pointing at an angle toward the back of ones head - you squeeze....
Warm salty liquid rushes into your nose and sinuses...
And out the
other nostril and down the back of your throat.
Did I mention ewgh? Then you repeat the process with the other nostril. One the plus side, it did the trick, if you don't mind your eye's watering and salty shit running down your throat.
Disgusting thing two:
In a moment that took me back to my days as a student,
evildoom_bunny was doing some long-overdue dishes just before. She took the lid off a saucepan which had been used to steam vegies, sometime last week, to reveal that it was half full of water. Topped with a complete layer of green fungus. It covered the whole surface of the water, around the spoon that was in it and everything. Smelled delightful too - which I was able to enjoy all the more since I'd cleared my sinuses earlier.
Just thought I'd share these things with you all :-)
