January 13, 2009

I, George W. Bush, President of these United States of the Americas, pursuant to that pardon power thingy conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of that Constitution I keep hearing people go on about, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Paul — or as I like to call him, Buddha Butt — for the crime of embezzling money from arms dealers to global terrorists.

The aforementioned — not to mention the beforementioned — shall not be subject to any punishment for this crime, including imprisonment in a medium security prison, tar and feathering or waterboarding. Well, maybe a little bit of waterboarding, but just for fun, ya know? Heh heh.

Being The Decider in Chief, I have hereby used my Decidering powers to declare that Paul is a faithful devotee of liberal, amoral atheism and is, as such, a technically decent but godless citizen of this great nation. To punish this person would deter future white collar criminals from seeking the American Dream.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand today, on January 13, in the year of our Lord 2009 — which I totally cannot believe is actually here, and I still haven't gotten my hovercraft — and of the Independence of the United States of America.

God bless,
George W. Bush

I wish I was making this up: Nuff nuff takes 26 years to finish rubicks cube. I know people who can do it in about thirty seconds...

And in the dying days of the Bush presidency, why don't you have yourself pardoned? (The US president has the power to pardon almost any crime. President Ford notoriously pardoned Nixon for example. And the really dodgy pardons tend to happen in the very last days of a presidency, since there'll be no time left for criticism. So expect Bush to pardon a whole cast of dodgy characters in the next few days...)

For reasons which are obscure, the ABC would like you to help it name its new pianos. Hey, I don't explain these things, I just find them...

A while back I acquired some interesting tracks from a compilation which came with a magazine called The Wire. (Not a magazine I read regularly, I rarely read the music press these days unless they're writing about Kompressor or something :-)

There was a fascination track on it which I kept getting stuck in my my head. Took me a while to figure out where I'd heard it, because it was something I just dropped into my playlist then didn't register who it was by etc. Anyway, pinned it down finally when it popped up in Winamp, and then fortuitously wandered into Collectors Corner on Bourke Street when they were having a big-arsed sale.

And then my hopeless short term memory let me down again. I got to asking them about what I thought was the band... 'cause I found several promising albums, all lacking track listings! In the end I just said "which is the most recent album?" and I bought that.

I should have been warned when I asked about the track in question. It was called "Family Feud", the guy behind the counter said "I thought all they tracks were named in Icelandic..."

*slaps head*

So I ended up with an album by Sigur Ros when I wanted Von Sudenfed!!!! Stupid brain confused the two 'cause they're both two word non-english names! Ah well. Sigur Ros is definitely not my cup of tea.

I ended up just downloading the damn thing. Which I should have done first, because I didn't like the rest of the album!

I can't however explain why I picked up a copy of "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys. It's supposed to be a classic album, but fuck it, I coulda spent that $10 on something by the MC5 for example!!!!!
