I have to confess - my life doesn't suck. Which will thereby fuck my career as a stand up comedian... :-)

Speaking of which, last Saturday night, I greatly enjoyed Songs from the 86 Tram, Justin "Bedroom Philosopher" Heazlewood. Or should I say "My man Justin" since he knows me well enough to chat to me :-)

Having said that, it'd probably not make a lot of sense to someone not from Melbourne. Even less sense to anyone who had never been on that tram line. It goes past my house - I know what he's talking (I mean singing) about.

Rest of my week: Monday I drove out to Warburton, to hang with one half of my family. My little first cousin once removed Asher was turning 21. I remember when he was born because I was a witness on his birth certificate!

Tuesday I had to drag myself in to work. After I work I met up briefly with [livejournal.com profile] alivicwil, which was ace. She is one of a select group of people who follow me on Twitter, facebook and here ([livejournal.com profile] jedi_amara, [livejournal.com profile] rinnywee and [livejournal.com profile] reddragdiva being the others!)

Then I had to take myself out to Trivia at a pub in Richmond with some more of my peeps.

Wednesday after work I had a gathering of the people I used to share a house with - the appropriately named "Northcote House Of TISM". We had a few drinks at Spleen, then some curry.

Here we are:
housemates
This is six of the seven people who lived in said house over the years. This was at our last party there. Left to right: Richard, George, Luna, Ben, Barbara, me! This must have been in early 2004...

Thursday, yet another trip to the gym. Friday, tonight, I popped into an MTUB meetup to chat to a whole pile of talkative nerds. Then I popped into Go Go Sushi Train and had a pile of plates of Sushi.

On the way home I dropped in on my old friend Geoff who was in a Japanese restaurant celebrating his housemate's birthday.

And then riding home I bumped into some more cyclists and a dog I know, who were at the tail end of a pub crawl!

So, in short, it's actually not been a bad week.

And... Check out these nerds!

[livejournal.com profile] vedmajulia tends to blog in Russian. Which means I get to have fun with Google Translate. Which means I get to read such amazing phrases as this:

"In the case of idiotic LJ replaced my yuzerpik instead vedmochki what is a scrolling dog ?!?!? and I now find the lost image that justice prevailed, and I again became like herself."

I'm going to use the phrase "scrolling dog" a great deal in future!

Just spreadin' your fame Julia :-)

I have a friend who delights in the name Luna (actually, she chose said name, she has a perfectly serviceable name before that.) Anyway, I was meeting her for dinner on Tuesday night, and we decided to meet on the corner of Lonsdale and Swanston street. Which was a bad idea, in retrospect, since I was looking out for a medium height Asian woman with black hair... Which described about 60% of the people walking by! Ah well, we found each other in the end...

My cat, Marvin, had not one but three visitors last night! Ok, so, strictly speaking he's not my cat, but anyway, he had guests. In fact, it was his actual owners, Jack and Polina, and his previous long term minder Anya.

Then we went out for Thai food and chased it down with some hot chocolate. Ah, the lifestyle, it's tough :-)

I've realised this blog has a larger audience than just those of you on Livejournal - probably because there's a big link on my facebook page.

So, anyway, hello Laura, Greg, Jack and Polina :-)

Good evening LJ,

I'm sorry I have been so negligent of you this last few weeks. That my last few entries were typed after midnight while I was at The Espy. It's been a smidgen busy.

Ok, so here's some things I've been doing.

Last week (I think, was it the week before????) I caught up with [livejournal.com profile] rinnywee for the first time in about ten years. The scary thing is... Neither of us have changed that much. She looked more or less the same, and apparently so do I. Probably a good thing. Although she has gained an English accent, which is weird because she's been living in France. Apparently she had to enunciate clearly to be understood by the French, which turned into an English accent. Figure that out.

And then last night I say [livejournal.com profile] vedmajulia, which was a delight. We haven't seen each other in about two years - she lives in the UK. And yet... weirdly, we didn't need to catch up that much. We've been constantly in touch on Facebook, livejournal and chatting. So many of the stories I had to tell she had heard before! Who would have thought in this age of Social Networking that it might actually work as intended and actually helps us stay in touch... Apparently my blogging about my love life has been a constant source of amusement. Still, it was ace to see her in real life. Back in the day we spent a lot of time in art galleries and other worthy cultural events, and I've missed having someone to do that with...

And she was lucky enough to meet Deb :-)
