Subject is catless, repeat, catless
Dec. 9th, 2007 09:49 pmWhile I think of it, I posted a couple of entries about 'em on
They're pretty much going to stay with their mommy from now on. I'm off to Sydney on Tuesday, which is why they went home now. They're
And... Given that my attempts to acquire some kittens fell through, I'm basically catless :-(
Ah well. I might leave it for a while and acquire a Maine Coon kitten in a few years :-)
Milkshake Is the HAPPIEST CAT ON EARTH!!!
Dec. 2nd, 2007 12:22 pmMilkshake, the goofy white kitten we got to keep
schnitzelrug company, is the happiest cat (kitten!) on earth!
When you pat her, she goes into an ecstasy of purring and rubbing against your hand - like "pat me here! No, now pat me here!!!" I will try and get a video...
Anyway, this morning I was lying in bed, and Milkshake decided it was time for some patting. She climbed onto the bed and rubbed herself all over me. Then she rubbed her face against the palms of my hands as if to say "this is what you should be doing with your hands right now! NOW!!!"
I do like a happy cat...

No Kittens :-(
Dec. 1st, 2007 03:12 pm:-(
ladystardust_xs, she of the Kittens, went over to visit her neighbour, the keeper of the actual kittens.
(Some background: Ms. Stardust has a number of cats. One of them moved across the road and set up home under her neighbour's bungalow. This was Schnitzel's grandmother, Squishy. She had the litter of four fluffy kittens on which I had some dibs...)
Anyway, she went over today to inquire after the kittens... And... He'd given them away already... :-( Sounds like he got his wires crossed, or was simply a dipstick... :-(
On the upside - there is one - given that I'm looking for a new job, car and house at the moment, getting new cats might have been a bit complicated. And it means I'll be able to have the delightful Schnitzel and Milkshake longer, until
evildoom_bunny finds a new house...
Damn it, they was fluffy... Which impostor out there has my kittens???
Ah well, might head over to the good folks at Save a Dog next year and look at their supply of kittens.

Long Promised Cat Entry
Nov. 29th, 2007 11:17 pmI've just realised that I'm acquiring cats in powers of two...
First we had one cat. Then two. Soon I will have four... For you non-nerds, that's two to the power zero (by definition that's one), two to the power of one, and two to the power two :-)
Actually, I won't really have four cats, since the two who are here right now COVERING THE WHOLE FLAT IN CAT HAIR are now technically
evildoom_bunny's. So I'm off to look at some spare kittens over at
ladystardust_xs's place.
Actually, strictly speaking I've briefly been the owner of three cats in the last twelve months. We also acquired (gender non-specifically named) Amber from
ladystardust_xs, for my mother. Saw said cat the other day. He's HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE and muscular, like a minture well formed tiger. Great coloring too, orange and stripy with rings around his tail. Will have to get some pictures.
Anyway,
schnitzelrug's grand mother had some kittens recently, two of which are mine... Cute! Fluffy! More cat hair! Hmmm...
I'm trying to fix my second cousin Asher's PC (again! He owes me, but as I mentioned to
jedi_amara, I witnessed his birth certificate, so I can make him Cease to Be if I wish too ;-) It's sitting on the floor with the side off installing 97 windows updates... And Milkshake is trying to attack the CPU fan... *slaps head* This is the cat who coined the term "curiosity killed the cat"!

Nov. 9th, 2007 10:13 pmNot sure if I've mentioned it, but
schnitzelrug and Milkshake are staying here with their Daddy for a while. They were driving
evildoom_bunny's mom nuts - and hence by extension driving EvilDoomBunny nuts.
Anyway, they're kinda her cats now... As much as they like me and I like them.
So, what am I going to do for cats? Well, as luck would have it, our supplier of Schnitzel,
ladystardust_xs tells me that Schnitzel's grandmother has had a litter of four kittens. Two of which are Calico/Tortoiseshell! I'm going to claim both o' them :-)
All I need now is some names. I'm thinking "Bubble" and "Squeak", in keeping with the Food theme.
Hello Milksha55555555ke (that was her contribution)! Who's an affectionate cat? OK, so, you have a lovely bottom, but it's not really necessary to show it to me like that...

OMG!!!11!!!!ONE!!ONE!!!!11 Kittens!
Nov. 4th, 2007 01:14 pmMostly to get her mother off her case (at least a little),
evildoom_bunny has sent the Kittens to live with their daddy for a while. Yay!
schnitzelrug and Milkshake are back!
Schnitzel's got bigger since I last saw her. And has mellowed a bit, she seems more like a cat - well, she is, technically, being thirteen months old or so. She's happy to sit on the couch, or lie on my lap (in what looks like the most uncomfortable positions, but she seems to be fine...)
Milkshake is still a bit nuts, but very very affectionate. A couple of times she's decided she needs some patting, and literally pushes herself at you till you pat or tickle her enough. Then she rolls around like a cat in some serious ecstasy.
Last night I found them curled up together in the covered cat bed we got for Schnitzel. Cute! Milkshake had her chin resting on Schnitzel's hips. Later Schnitzel was licking Milkshake's head. Ah, friends! This is why we got two kitties, so they wouldn't be lonely. Although there are still some minor disputes about whose food bowl is whose....

Facebook Cats Etc.
Oct. 3rd, 2007 09:25 pmHad at least another two conversations about Facebook today.
One of my cow-orkers was worried about my cats. He wanted to know why I'd been posting to Schnitzel and Milkshake's Catbooks saying "I miss you" etc. I had to explain that the cats were fine, but they were living with their mommy at the moment. And that their mommy and daddy didn't live together any more...
I suppose it's kind of endearing that someone is paying that close attention to my cats!!!!
In other facebook news, I now have 113 friends. Just found an old mate from the Jammers. Cool.

Bad Kitten
Sep. 17th, 2007 03:33 pmMan, I'm a smidgen tired today.
Certain Kittens I share the flat with didn't get the idea last night that it was bedtime and not kitten play time.
I ended up - eventually - locking Milkshake in the bathroom, where she messed with stuff for a while and went to sleep. I'd had to catch her first, which was a task in itself, since she fits through some very small gaps.
I think she got the idea I was quite pissed off with her, she was avoiding me this morning! I think even
schnitzelrug was getting a bit over her, she was just sitting watching her scamper from room to room, as if to say "Look, I'm not participating in these shenanigans, I don't need to be punished. Can I sleep on your bed now?"
Hopefully she'll have less energy tonight. I don't know where she's getting her coffee from

Dear
schnitzelrug and Milkshake,
(You may remember them from this earlier post).
Now, I'm glad you like playing with each other - biting, wrestling, chasing from room to room - this is why we have two cats.
However, Schnitzel, when I catch you licking Milkshake's butt things are getting a bit weird. I think she's quite capable of looking after herself in that area, why don't you stick to licking, er, your paws or something?
And don't give me this "But I think I'm her mommy" nonsense! You're only four months older than she is! Neither of you have ovaries! Knock it off!
Maybe it's because we live in the suburb affectionately known as Lesbian Central (Northcote, Melbourne, Australia)...
Sincerely,
Bemused Food and Toy Provider.

Dear
schnitzelrug and Milkshake,
You are the cutest kittens, and I could watch you wrestling and chasing the same bug all day.
Now, I know it's getting to be spring down here in the southern hemisphere, and that you guys no longer need your winter coats. But how is it that two cats with a combined weight of maybe five kilograms (about 11 pounds from some online converter) produce enough fur to completely cover an entire one bedroom flat to a depth of a couple of inches???
There is Fur everywhere! On the bed covers, the couch, the floor of the kitchen! And how the heck did fur get onto my clothes while they were hanging in the CLOSED wardrobe??? Stuff I've washed and hung up is hairy! How do you do it?
OK, I guess it's partly my fault. 80% of my clothes are black (I'm from Melbourne, Australia, if that means anything to you all :-) so getting one cat who is 100% white hair and another who is 50% white... What was I thinking?
Sincerely,
The guy with the Lint Brush
