It's a bad year for American authors.
Norman Mailer wrote one of my favourite books of all time: The Armies Of The Night, which I have a sudden inclination to re-read. It tells the story of a march on the Pentagon from two different view points - as a reporter at the event and in the second half as a participant in the march itself. I recommend it.
