Stinky

For reasons which are not clear, my Mother gave my Dad a dwarf lemon tree, belatedly, for his 60th birthday (er, said parents have been divorced since the mid seventies).

For reasons of already having a lemon tree, my Dad gave the tree to me. Well, when I say tree, I mean shrub... He then brought me a largish pot for it, despite the tininess of my flat and the available areas for Trees. Basically, all my plants are in pots on the landing outside my flat. He also promised me some good old compost to pot it in...

He didn't mention it was relatively Fresh compost..... Which is just a little bit INCREDIBLY STINKY! It's sitting outside my front door, and I do hope it's not pissing off my neighbours... Supposedly it'll get a little less wiffy in the next couple of days... If it doesn't, I might have to move it somewhere else, such as the next suburb!!!!

The stupid thing is, I don't even like lemons...

I don't know what I've been doing wrong recently, but I've been really out of condition... Finding the exercises I do at the gym far harder than they should be. A couple of sessions ago, I had to get off the stepper because my legs simply stopped working. Hmmm... Dunno.

Today's trip to the gym was enlivened by the addition of [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny, who only whined a little bit about the exercises I made her do :-P She also didn't do quite enough admiring of my sweaty muscles as I worked the dumb-bells :-P

Last week, I spent a day working in South Australia with an English engineer (more on that later.)

On the drive back to Adelaide from Victor Harbor, he told me he was flying home via Singapore. He was going to be there on Saturday 21st of July, which because of the international dateline or some such was going be happing earlier than the 21st back in the UK.... And so, he had a copy of the friggin' new H*rry P*tt*r book on order at a bookshop there! The idea being he could read it all on the long journey home, and avoid his pesky little nephew spoiling it for him!!!!

Argh!

Then, on Saturday I was in the city near Readers Feast book shop on Swanston Street. I saw one person reading it at the tram stop, and another person walking with a copy in a bag...

Argh!

Later that day I was in a good little bookshop in Williamstown. While I was there THREE PEOPLE came in to ask for the new H*rry P*tt*r book! He'd sold out by 3PM!!!! The place had plenty of other perfectly good, indeed quite interesting books!!!

Argh!!!

Then I came across this picture on the Wikipedia!

Argh!!!!

I finally relented and got me one of those bluetooth mobile headset thingies. Mostly so I could take calls while driving. It's made by some mob called Blue Ant, and when it's on, two blue LEDs flash on it. Not very noticeable in daylight, but driving at night, I keep freaking out my passengers when it briefly illuminates the right side of the car. Well, sort of illuminates, they don't have that much oomph.

It's actually quite good, I've used it a fair bit, the sound quality is excellent (better than the shitty wired headset which came with my phone) and I'm less likely to get into trouble with the Fuzz.

And I will NEVER be seen walking down the street with it in my ear! Strictly car only! Those people are scary - it's like they're all insane, like there's been a sudden rise in the number of loonies in suits walking the streets of Melbourne talking to themselves......
