Dear Diary,
Should transcribe my New Years Eve.
First off, I'm a bit over it, to be honest. This was something like the thirty fifth NYE I've experienced. And in fact, they've often sucked.
Bad Example:
End 1999, beginning of 2000 I was at the Falls Festival. They venue had been changed at the last possible minute - I found out on the day - from the regular venue at Lorne to a farm near Torquay, where another festival run by the same guys usually took place earlier in the year. Apparently the Lorne venue was all mud from too much rain (those were the days). For three days, the weather was shit - dusty and windy alternating with heavy rain. There was some stupid bar arrangement where you'd have to buy tokens for beer then get the beer from another tent. I didn't have a shower for three days, some drunken idiot fell on my tent and broke it, and then the crowd threw beer bottles at the Violent Femmes. Fun.
Good Example:
When I was eight, I was in plaster after surgery. I remember just managing to stay awake to watch the numbers 1980 come up on the screen before falling into a deep sleep.
