Flat Cleaning, part 2...

Ok, so I moved in here in February of last year (2005). I've literally just set up my stereo! I need a new one - parts of it are over 20 years old, my CD player is a portable from the 80's that I bought off a friend, and I don't even know why I have a tape deck...
On the plus side, I can now play my vinyl records! I have a box full, lots of which I don't have in any other format.
I've also connected one of the sockets to my MP3 playing PC, so all the other parts of the stereo are now irrelevant - I'll just play my 9094 MP3s (and Oggs) through it, and never ever have to turn a record over again :-)
Ok, enough goofing off... Still haven't touched my bedroom.......!

Date: 2006-07-22 12:06 pm (UTC)i have yet to figure out how to pack my cds in an intellient way (which lead to some "interesting" djing a few months back), but thats what mp3s and rca to single audio output cables are for.
MP3s are your friend...
Date: 2006-07-23 12:32 pm (UTC)As for my CDs, I have about 400 at the moment (although I'm definitely missing some I used to own - a rare William Burroughs album and some other stuff. I suspect one of my ex housemates probably still has them.
During a previous fit of insane house cleaning, I sorted them all into alphabetical order, because I couldn't find a damn thing. Compilations are there by their name, artist by surname, etc. And until recently, I had at least one CD for every letter of the alphabet - except U! Now I have something by "Undecisive God" and still nothing by that annoying band from Ireland that that Bono chap is from... And yes, I am descended from librarians.

Date: 2006-07-24 03:37 am (UTC)im like that with videos and dvds. i have my dvds here, but my videos are spread out across two houses at the moment, there are quite a few. i collect 80s bizarre vhs. one day i'll ditch all the actual videos and just create folders for the amazing covers.
no librarians in my recent family line, but i am a fuddy duddy who likes to organise things. the videos used to be arranged alphabetically, by rating and size.... hours of amusement.
