Some friends of mine had a baby overnight! A little guy called Brian, might try and visit him tomorrow.

I just got a new program at the gym. It's a killer. My one leg exercise is called the "Dead Lift", and involves lifting a 65 kilo weight off the floor... That'll teach me to make an appointment with the craziest instructor there. I once saw him doing a stretch that invloved placing both hands on a bench, leaving his feet on the floor, and keeping his head and whole body below the level of the bench! Looked like a killer.

I did aaaaaaaaaaaaall the dishes in my flat. I have too many. I live more or less alone (Ok, so [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny is here 85% of the time :-) and yet I have eighteen glasses, sixteen or more mugs, including four really big french coffee mugs, twenty four tea spoons. And yet I had no small "bread" plates until the trip to Savers last weekend.

Speaking of which, I went to Cashies today and sold them a shit Apple monitor, a slightly less shit generic PC monitor, and a piss-poor telephone. I made $10! :-) It was either there or off to the salvation army.

Just loaded all my and Evil Doom's MP3s into one big ugly playlist. There are 9777 songs in it! Six hundred and thirty six hours of music....

I hereby swear, as you are all my witnesses, that I will NOT set foot into another book shop until I have READ all the books I have bought in the last six months. And which are sitting around my flat. Not to mention my book group book - which this month was Catch-22, the one book I've read more times than any other.

Books I have to read:
  • Monkey - Wu Ch'Eng-En (translated by Arthur Waley) Yes, THE monkey
  • What We Do Now - Multiple authors, collection of essays.
  • Quarterly Essay - "Beyond Belief" - John Button et. al.
  • Quarterly Essay - "What's Left" - Clive Hamilton et. al.
  • Hope - Marian Fowler. A book about a diamond
  • Dopeland - John Birmingham, the guy who wrote "He Died With a Fallefel in his Hand"
  • Blunt - Bob Blunt. A biased history of Australian Rock
  • Humans - Mike Dowdall and Pat Welch. A field guide from the 70's
I also picked up a book in Pitman Shorthand a few weeks back, which I'm NOT going to attempt to read!

There was another little book of essays, which I now can't locate... Will have to ask [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny if she's seen it.

I'm currently finishing "Best American Essays 2003" which is really excellent.

[livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny picked this up from an obscure little shop in the underpass between Flinders Street Station and Degraves street. It seems to be entirely serious and devoid of irony!

Footscray Postcard

I want a copy or three. Apparently the father of the guy who runs the shop made them years ago, and he still had some lying around.
