My Week So Far.
Feb. 3rd, 2006 12:08 pmMonday, I had lunch with some of my ex-co-workers, down in Port Melbourne. They had a very hard time working out what had happened since I'd left there - apart from the New Guy they brought along, so clearly something's been happening. It was weird seeing them again - I never really made friends with them, because I simply don't do that sort of thing - I have plenty of people outside of work to keep me busy.
Tuesday, after much farting around, I managed to pack my car and my girlfriend, and head down here to the beach. We had barely landed in Ocean Grove when we turned around again and headed back to Geelong. For reasons known only to himself, Henry Rollins was doing a BDO side show in Geelong, and the Geelong Performing Arts Centre no less.
I called them Tuesday morning, full expecting them to be well and truely sold out, but instead came away with two tickets in row J. Fantastic! I haven't seen Rollins (spoken word, I might add) since 1997, and the time before that was in 1992!
The gig was really amazing - that guy can tell a story. I wrote a review which I'll post here sometime. And I have a sudden desire to go get more of his back catalogue than I already have... Must... Stay... Off... Ebay...
What other fun stuff have I been doing this week? I have an interesting stomach bug which caused me to visit a GP yesterday, I have a prescription for a serious anti-biotic. Never again will I eat a kebab of any kind ever.
Yesterday we walked from Ocean Grove to Barwon heads, about an hours walk. I managed to sun-burn my every available surface - again! Fuck I'm stupid! I have skin like alabaster, and I still don't put on enough sun screan. The lower half of my face looks like a turnip, and the back of my legs aren't much better.
We were going to drive down to the Twelve Apostles today, till I worked out it'd be about a 400KM round trip. I'm not THAT interested, maybe some time I'll go stay down that way. Actually, I can't see that happening either, tourism it not my thing. I'm on holiday for a week, and as I said to Hazel "I plan to play age of empires till my eyes hurt!"
In other news, my grandmother turned 94 yesterday. Next week will be the first anniversary of my moving into the Northcote Batchelor Pad. And I can't go a whole entry without mentioning
evildoom_bunny, who is now a convinced Rollins fan and is sitting next to me chatting to someone. Hooray for the chicken shop internet terminals!
