More Funny Ha Ha.

Spent some of last night at the Comedy Club/Last Laugh, which resides these days in a hot room at the very very top of the Athenaeum theatre. Seriously, almost got a nose bleed climbing all the stairs. Went along with
evildoom_bunny(of course),
stillbeing, and three other people who don't have blogs that I'm aware of :-)
There were three chaps on, none of whom I'd ever heard of - probably a side effect of not watching television. They were Des Dowling, Luke Whitby and Damien Callinan.
Now, my retention of names, and my short term memory being what it is, I can't now tell you which was which, so the quick review: One mad Irishman with a beard and long hair, who could really dance, and was very fucking funny. His "Yoda Pulls a Workers Comp Scam" material being particularly fine. Wish I could remember it, it did include the phrase "To the Hand must talk you." One of them wasn't particularly funny - I think he was having an off night, he looked like he knew what he was doing but it just wasn't quite clicking. And finally one of them was about one step removed from being a yobbo - but was very fucking funny as well, even though his whole act seemed to consist of insulting random members of the Audience. Including some poor american guy called George who it transpired was from "Los Angeles, California" and worked in "Post production on Reality TV". We mock-booed on hearing that. One joke I can recall - something about being a guy with a chiuaua (fuck, how do you spell that???) on a long long leash who was clearly finishing for a larger dog.
I've seen more comedy in the last couple of weeks than since last years Comedy festival. Speaking of which, that's on in a month or so. I did also just get an e-mail from the Bedroom Philosopher telling me he's moving back to Melbourne after a stint in Sydney. He was quite pleased his song "I'm So Post-Modern" beat a Beck song in the Hottest 100...
Anyway, best go eat my dinner...
