That Festival What Happened...

This is how I spent Chr*stm*s Eve. How Aussie Traditional. Although the rain falling on it wasn't quite so traditional. This was over a evildoom_bunny's place - ok, her mom's place - where I barbecued these two HUGE steaks, twelve fat sausages, eight chops and ten chicken skewers. For six adults and two kids :-)

Other things we did: Drove out to visit Warbuton where my cousin lives on Chr*stm*s Day. There was SNOW on the nearby hills. This morning I tried calling a couple of my friends in the UK - got onto one of them, but she had to go feed her baby about five minutes later. And in about ten minutes I'm hoping on a train to Geelong to visit the relos down that way...

Only two more days till K-Day!

In other news: James Brown died early on the morning of the 25th :-(

Other Stuff From this "Festive" Season

evildoom_bunny and I took the train to the always exciting city of Geelong today. Fun. My mother lives down there, as does my 91 year old grandfather. He was pretty chuffed to see us. He's an ancient dutchman, and weirdly his accent is getting thicker as he gets older, so he's very hard to follow these days. Usually you can make out the gist of what he's saying, but his habit of inventing Dutchlish words from bits of both languages makes it interesting indeed.

And for the record: Geelong sucks.

What else. Last night I called my friend Jean in Adelaide who I haven't spoken to in months. She was pleased to hear from me, and we had a good old chat. BTW, she's probably in the market for a new job soon. So if anyone is in Adelaide and needs an experienced Psychologist...

Then this morning I attempted to call some of my friends in Europe. I got onto Zoya briefly - she has a new baby who starting crying a little almost as soon as she answered the phone. Still it was great to hear her voice again after... 18 months or more!

Also tried to get onto vedmajulia who is I believe in Brussels (no doubt eating Brussel Sprouts) but only got onto her message bank. Ah well. It was amusing to dial 16 digits, then listen as the global roaming kicked in, trying to find her mobile somewhere on the surface of the earth, then finally hearing it ring...

What else. I attempted to watch the infamous Star Wars Christmas Special which I downloaded months ago. It was awful, I mean, astonishingly bad, bad on an epic scale. Did I mention it was bad? I mean, I've seen some shit television and indeed some shit Sci Fi, but damn. It was so bad I ended up skipping 90% of it, and only watching a really surreal segment where Jefferson Starship pretended to be a holographic band performing... A song of some sort, which was almost unintelligible. Also watched the brief animation which wasn't great, but at least wasn't as eye-tearingily bad as the rest of the thing. All I can say is ewgh ewgh ewgh.

And now evildoom_bunny are sitting here listening to a long James Brown set. Might follow it with some Hendrix, then some George Harrison, and maybe some Nirvana, then some John Lennon...

Teeth and Stuff

evildoom_bunny chipped a tooth today while we were on the train back from Geelong. Bizarre! We kept the bit which fell off, it's now in a little plastic bag.

My sister arrives tomorrow from Kabul. Via Dubai, strangely there are not direct flights from Afghanistan to Melbourne. Now there's a woman who should get herself a blog...

Yesterday, evildoom_bunny performed a brief set at the nursing home in Glen Huntly where her grandmother resides. I tried to take some pictures of her in action, but my phone camera couldn't quite cope with the contrast - this being the result! She's dissolving into spaaaaaaace!!!
