Egad, it has been some time since I Blogged...

I got a new PC here at Work, which is pretty damn fast. It's some kind of Dell, a Dimension E520 in fact. Seems pretty speedy. Of course, it took me a few days to get trillian and winamp working on it to my satisfaction :-)

The coolest thing is this here keyboard. It's wireless, but best of all the media keys work with Winamp, so I can skip ahead etc. without actually opening winamp. Ok, so I"m probably missing the point and should be using the machine for, er, work :-)

[EDIT] Forgot to mention, this came with a rather spiffy 19" LCD monitor. First one I've ever had, it's not half bad.

Meet Tim, the newest member of my team:
tim
I've set him up in the cubicle next to Bob. They both look thrilled to be here :-)

And frighteningly, Tim has the same screen saver as me!

Hmmmm, I'm going to have to print some more carpet...

Fuji, the aforementioned wonder car, is back in business. The nice car doctors at the nice car doctor place in Clifton Hill fixed him yesterday.

Hmmmm... It's possible I'm a little overly sentimentally attached to Fuji. Not a good way to be about an aging machine, who just needed a new $650 clutch. Ah well, I like to think of him, er, it, as a kind of large metal pet. Or as my friend Andy put it "Stickers holding together a car." I've only owned two and a half cars in my life, and I've owned Fuji by far the longest. Six and a half years now. The first one, a Ford Escort panel van, I wrote off after only 18 months. The second I owned for about 12 months, a big ugly old Magna, which I lost in the "divorce" from the ex-Fiance...

The timing is Ace, [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny and I are off down the coast tomorrow for wedding.

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny, babe, thanks for letting me use your car! Said car needs a name - how about... Er, I'll have to work on that one.

[livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny and I wandered off to the Corner hotel last weekend to see Nursery Crimes, the (apparently) legendary late 80's punk revival band. They haven't played on a stage since 1993.

I confess I know nothing by them or really about them, I was mostly there to see what Davage, formerly a member of my one of favourite bands of all time, Pre_Shrunk, got up to before he was in the 'shrunk.

They're a tight little outfit, it was amazing to hear the difference from the first chord, compared to the support bands. They were just better.

I'll write a proper review when I have time, maybe next week. Watch this space.

I need to get out and see some more live music. Any suggestions?

P.S. Found some more 'shrunk over at Black Yak Records.

PDA = Public Displays of Affection (or Portable Digital Assistant if you're a nerd :-)

PDM = Public Display of Muppet.

Last week sometime [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny and I were walking in the city, as usual indulging in nauseating amounts of PDA. I said "We should stop kissing quite so vigorously in public all the time." [livejournal.com profile] evildoom_bunny went "Nar nar nar nar, blah blah blah" and did that talking hand thing. Which I described as a "Public Display of Muppet."

Still not sure what it means. If anyone knows, give me a hoy :-)
