Spend the night of my
35 birthday at a bar in Prahran of all places seeing some comedy.
I'm not happy being in Prahran or the southern suburbs these days - somewhere down there is an
ex and some of her friends... Ok, ok, I should probably get over her - we went our separate ways in february of 2004 and now I have the lovely
evildoom_bunny to keep me warm. But still, there are some people I just don't want to bump into!
Ok, enough bitter and twisted-ness :-)
A comedian of my acquaintance was on the list of people I emailed my burpday party invite to. She then hit "reply all" and sent a flier to everyone I know about a comedy night. (Note to self: use BCC!) I was going to chastise her, but it turned out everyone appreciated it - and best of all, some six of my friends got freebies to this gig! So it was like a small party for me in this bar! Yay!
I know people from all sorts of divergent places - Introduced Claire from my bookgroup to my best friend Hazel, then to my ex-housemate Barbara, and then a young culture jammer from the Melbourne Jammers!
I can't remember a damn thing about the comedy, except that it was pretty damn funny, which is what you want. There was some strangely built woman - lumpen would be a good word for it - who told us about her motorcycle, was vaguely racist, then told us all that she loved cock. Just like several.... Er, all... Other heterosexual women I know. There must have been other highlights, but of course I have a memory like a goldfish.
Oh look! A little plastic castle!
I've been reading some of the comics I picked up yesterday. They were
Filler Bunny #2,
Squee #2 and
Bear #1. The first two are by the chap who made Invader Zim.
I actually went to the comic book store to pick up a copy of volume one of Akira, the original manga, but end up in the Filler Bunny area - there's a whole shelf of stuff by this guy!
I should draw a comic. Except I can't draw. Well, I can, but it's a slooooow process...
Fuck, I'm a nerd!
Oh look! A little plastic castle!
