Just for a change, some good news about a single screen art house cinema:

Hollywood ending as school buys beloved Astor cinema.

That's wonderful. A school won't be so quick to sell it off either. After the Valhalla in Glebe was sold and ruined I can really feel for the manager in his anguish.

So many cinemas are getting fucked over the same way the good pubs are :-(

They did good things to the Westgarth, but now they don't play anything I want to see - even though it's almost on my doorstep, I never go there...

I'm surprised the Val in Sydney lasted as long as it did.
